Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of solarratecalc.com (the "Site"), operated by Solar Rate Calc ("we," "us," or "our"). By accessing or using the Site, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Site.

1. Estimates Only — Not a Quote or Financial Advice

The Site provides a calculator that generates estimates of solar system size, installation cost, tax credit eligibility, and projected savings based on information you provide and general assumptions about pricing, sunlight, and utility rates. These estimates:

  • are not a quote, offer, or guarantee of pricing, savings, or system performance from any installer;
  • rely on default assumptions (including a blended national electricity rate and installation cost per watt) that may not reflect your actual utility rate, roof, or local market pricing;
  • do not constitute tax, legal, financial, or investment advice; consult a qualified tax professional regarding your eligibility for any federal, state, or local incentive; and
  • may change as tax law, incentive programs, and market pricing change.

You should obtain a written quote from a licensed local solar installer before making any purchase or financing decision.

2. Lead Sharing and Consent

If you submit your contact information through our lead form, you authorize us to share that information with up to three matched solar installer partners and/or affiliate networks so they may contact you with quotes. If you check the applicable consent checkbox, you also agree to receive marketing calls and text messages, including via automated dialing technology, as described in our Privacy Policy. Submitting the lead form is voluntary and not required to use the free calculator.

3. Eligibility and Acceptable Use

You must be at least 18 years old and a resident of the United States to submit the lead form. You agree not to:

  • submit false, misleading, or another person's contact information without their consent;
  • use the Site for any unlawful purpose;
  • attempt to interfere with, disrupt, or gain unauthorized access to the Site or its underlying systems; or
  • scrape, harvest, or reuse Site content or calculator logic for a competing commercial product without our written permission.

4. Third-Party Installers and Advertising

We are not a solar installer, contractor, or financial institution. We do not employ, control, or guarantee the work of any installer we refer you to. Any contract you enter into is solely between you and that installer, and is subject to that installer's own terms, pricing, and warranties. The Site also displays third-party advertising, including through Google AdSense; we are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or offers of third-party ads.

5. Intellectual Property

The Site, including its design, text, calculator logic, and branding, is owned by Solar Rate Calc or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. You may use the Site for personal, non-commercial informational purposes only.

6. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SITE AND ALL CALCULATOR RESULTS ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION WARRANTIES OF ACCURACY, MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT ANY ESTIMATE WILL MATCH YOUR ACTUAL SOLAR SYSTEM COST, SAVINGS, OR PAYBACK PERIOD.

7. Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SOLAR RATE CALC AND ITS OWNERS, EMPLOYEES, AND AFFILIATES WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR SAVINGS, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SITE, RELIANCE ON ANY CALCULATOR ESTIMATE, OR ANY TRANSACTION WITH A THIRD-PARTY INSTALLER OR AFFILIATE PARTNER, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

8. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Solar Rate Calc from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your misuse of the Site or violation of these Terms.

9. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles, unless otherwise required by the mandatory consumer protection laws of your state of residence.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes are effective when posted, with the "Last updated" date revised accordingly. Continued use of the Site after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
